can i install new hard disk with old disk's XP oem

is it possible to change the original hard disk provided by the vendor with a new hard disk and reinstal the xp OEM on it?

i think you will have to activate once again.. maybe .. but many times it does not pop up for activation even if you change the mobo also.. :D:D:D

i too have a Branded PC - HP Pavilion Desktop a1210in.

@tech_lover you can install the OEM XP provided by the company in any HDD you install, but you cant install if you change your Motherboard to other model:wink:

this info is printed in the "User Manual" itself, so you're all safe to install XP.

oops i misunderstood that..

ya tech lover you need to activate the install... get ur activation number from the service centre of ur m/c comp.

i too have a Wipro branded mc at my home, once i tried to install @ my friend's home but due to mobo and hw diff it rejected the install..

thanks guys...will do it. though i hate to call up those people and explain every time that IT is the SAME PC with SAME OEM software to get the activation code.
