buying a laptop...need your advice

Hi Netizens......
I wanna buy a laptop and I have decided on LG Model No: RD405-A.CDT3A2 .
It has 160 gb hard disk space and 2 gb ram.I am neither a hard core gamer nor a great fan of movies .The laptop will be used for mid level computing and my priorities are full XP support and overall satisfactory performance.I will use it for serious programming ( low to medium level ).
I think it's a great deal but what is giving me trouble is the negative comments about LG laptops by my friends(They have not used but nobody is preferring).I doesn't have any user feedback too as nobody in the vicinity has experience using LG laptops.. So I want to know what is your opinion about LG laptops(Particularly the model told above ; Is it a wise buy?)..
Please help me sort this out..

Why not go for a dell vostro (check out the dell site for more details.) which has the back licensing program for full winxp support.. I wouldnt venture out into the unknown( lg...in terms of after sales services and tech support. )if i m spending so much money.

If you could mention your budget.. Though for such kinda work I recommend DELL Inspiron 1525 and NOTHING else. It has Vista which I think you wont require as you need to use XP.

You can go for this laptop; or Dell Vostro - which a member has already proposed to you. But I stillfeel that Inspiron 1525 is a better buy.

Yes, the DELL vostro's are light, sleek, beau(tiful), not pricey, attractive, performing, and all in all...( must hav got hat I mean by now)

Hey, I don't have any idea about LG laptops... But I suggest you to go for DELL inspiron... It's the best.
