Buying a gaming pc - around 60k (Confused about budget)

Broken In
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
Ans: Only for gaming and movies purposes. Bf4, crysis 3, assassins creed series, call of duty series and many more upcoming games

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: starting 60k can increase upto 90k (I am mainly confused here, how much should I be spending for gaming at 1080p all existing and future games. Is increasing the budget justified. I dont want to increase the budget unnecessarily)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: maybe in the future, after 1-2 years

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: win 8.1

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: minimum 1tb, should i also add a ssd. would buy external HDD later

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:Yes, 1080p either 21 inch or 23 inch

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: currently only have a laptop, so buying everything

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within a month

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: have not built before, but will assemble myself

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: kolkata, would buy online if is a better deal, else locally

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: please also guide me about multimonitor gaming or gaming in 3d (monitor for these 2 could be added later, if they are more than a gimmick. if going for these than i think the budget would increase to the higher end)

AMD FX-8350 @ 13K
Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 @ 8.2K
Corsair Vengenace 1600MHz 4GB X 2 CL9 DDR3 @ 4.9K (Corsair Vengeance®)
WD Caviar Blue SATA III 6 Gbps 1TB HDD @ 4.1K
Antec VP650P @ 4.5K
Corsair Carbide SPEC 03 @ 4.8K
Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 4GB GDDR5 @ 36K
Cooler Master Devastator Gaming Bundle @ 2.8K
APC 1.1 KVA UPS @ 5K

Total: 83K.

Now I tailored this configuration in a pure gaming pointg of view without touching the maximum budget you have. Sicne its a gaming config, I have concentrated more on the Graphics card section 1st and added a R9 290 4GB custom Cooler version which can play all the games at 2560X1440 resolution and simply kills all the games at 1080P resolution with their highest possible settings enabled. Now it might look overkill to you but think the scenario 7 to 8 Months in future where far more demanding games will be coming out which can easily damage current 1080P kings like GTX 770 or R9 280.

For Processor, I have suggested an AMD 8 Core configuration for three reasons:
1. Keeping the cost down.
2. Future Multi-threaded optimized games where 8 Core will be beneficial. Even current games like Metro last light, Crysis 3 favors FX-8350.
3.Overclocking potential.

If yopu can spend, go for a Intel Non-K Processor like i5 4570 and a 5/6K B85 motherboard.

Buddy, 290 has serious performance boost over the 280X. Don't get confused by the name. 280X is just a GCN 1.0 based rebranded HD 7970 with slightly higher GPU clock. It has 2048 stream Processors, 384 Bit memory bus and 3GB GDDR5 memory with no True Audio support and a reduced price than the original 7970 whereas R9 290 and 290X is based on GCN 1.1 architecture with 512 Bit memory bus, 4GB of GDDR5 Memory, 2560 and 2816 stream processors respectively. Also it has the newest features like AMD True Audio support, integrated Crossfire controller and combination of those provide significant performance boost over 280X.

And getting Xeon e3 1230 V3 is a good idea but try to get a good B85 motherboard or a H67 one.

If you are spending over 70k, then a 290 is must. You are safe for another year at minimum with 1080p and ultra settings.

I think Xeon 1230 V3 + H87 based combo will be more future proof than 4670K + Z87 based with almost similar pricing.
Overclocking certainly has its advantages, but a processor having Hyper Threading has native performance benefit.

Hi, i have been searching for gaming benchmarks for the Xeon processor but did not find any. On many other forum people are recommending the Xeon for non overclockers. Also has any one on this forum tried or can guide me how r9 290 will perform with Xeon processor.
Also will be sapphire r9 290 trix also face throttling problem like those with stock coolers in Kolkata heat.

I am using r9 290 for a month and live in Durgapur. Max temp i have touched is 75 degrees and no throttling.

hyper threaded xeons are similar to intel's i7 offering. xeon e3 1230 v3 is similar to i7 4770 without igpu and a 100mhz drop in frequency and available at a very affordable price.

Hi,

Bumping up this thread. was not able to continue this thread as was away for some time and also came up with some budget problem.

suggest other good cabinet around 3-4k
PSU - Antec VP450p or VP550p (is 450 watt enough for my config)
similarly please suggest anything better if available
Monitor - 21-23 inch.. please suggest
HDD - 1tb or 2tb (already have a 2tb extenal HDD)
Keyboard - something basic, already have a wireless and wired mouse.

Antec VP550P, WB Blue 1 TB, Dell S2240L, Logitech MK200. For cabinet, Spec 3 is good.

Thanks for the reply.
For PSU is VP450 enough as I am not planning to make any change in future. Would save me some cash bu going for vp450p
I have read that WD Blue is not available at most places. any alternative if the same is not available
for monitor I also thought about S2240L but have heard it is glossy finish. any alternative to it.
any other cabinet i need to look for when i visit the market today.

In Kolkata what all shops are good and reasonably priced other than MD Computers.
