Hi , my friend is looking to assemble a new PC under 15K . He won't be needing a new Monitor nor a keyboard/mouse .
He's no hardcore gamer , but he would like to play games on low res .

So , the components needed would be
1. Processor
2. Motherboard
3. RAM
4. Gfx Card(if possible)
5. Cabinet
6. HDD

Any suggestions would be appreciated . Thanks!

P.S - I made a search for a similar thread on the forums , but couldn't find one .

^^ does it matters? 15k for the whole thing. even if you are willing to can't include performance parts.

anyway have a look at this:

Athlon II X3 435 2.9GHz @ 3.5k
Gigabyte GA-MA880GM-UD2H @ 4.5k
2Gb DDR3 from any manufacturer @ 2k
WD Blue 500Gb @ 2k
any generic cabby + FSP Saga II 400W/Gigabyte 460W @ ~3k.

total sum up @ 15k.

But sam still a 5550 can be added to play at somewhat high res. with some detail.

Athlon II x2 240 @ 2.8k
Gigabyte GA-MA74GMT-S2 @ 2.7k
2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 2k
Sapphire HD5550 DDR3 @ 4.4k
Seagate 160GB @ 1.6k
FSP saga II 350W @ 1.5k
Cabinet @ 1k

Total - 16k

yup. can be. now its OP's call what he want. add a slow card now or get some AMD 6-series power (or Nvidia 4-5 series or whatever comes next).

but why you added a paltry 160Gb HDD?

Thanks for the prompt replies guys .
@Jaskanwar - I don't know which monitor he has , but don't think he's looking to buy a new one .

I'll give him both the configs posted above .. Let him make the choice ^^

I know neither of those will be sufficient in the long term , but considering he's a guy who's not into gaming(multiplayer precisely) , which would be the more suitable option??

Cheers fellas!

1 more thing , if he doesn't opt for the HD5550 , will he still be able to play any decent game with the onboard gfx?

@k_v
can you explain a bit which games does he play?
also ask him at what resolution he will do so.
if at 1024*768 and some medium details then the config sam mentioned will be best. if higher, then igp will become insufficient.
also ask him will he add a gfx card in future?

Yeah .. 1024x768 would most likely be the res . I guess i'll just give him the config sam mentioned which is

Athlon II X3 435 2.9GHz @ 3.5k
Gigabyte GA-MA880GM-UD2H @ 4.5k
2Gb DDR3 from any manufacturer @ 2k
WD Blue 500Gb @ 2k
any generic cabby + FSP Saga II 400W/Gigabyte 460W @ ~3k

I think it would be better to save and invest on a better card later on . Cheers guys . Much appreciated .

Getting the X3 will help and you may get a gfx card later.

2GB DDR3 1333MHz

Any decent cabby(preferably with single 120mm or 2x 80mm fan for exhaust)

Either of the two PCs will be good enough for that. You can do serious gaming on those.
Lets see if others suggest something better.
