the problem is I do need a gpu but I am not fond of the two cores ...any try/quad core options around ???

and what if I pick and a6 3650/3670

i was thinking about amd a6 3500/a6 3650/a6 3670 + biostar a55ml+ and good gpu e.g. hdd 6770
which is better??

the rig suggested by ico is way better
i myself use a hd 6770 and if for example i play bf3 multiplayer @ 1080p low then i get 60fps, icos rig will get 50 and yours (LOL) may find it difficult to break even 40 fps (due to bottlenecking)
now its upto you

well, if you didn't have plans of buying HD 6770, I'd have suggested AMD APUs.

But you have the budget for Core i3-2100 + HD 6770. This is better.

my father is incclined towards buying a lappy.
can u suggest a cheaper processor than i3 2100 or atleaat cheapest street price of i3???

and in one if the previous posts I had shortlisted two laptops.which is better for gaming ???
my primary requirements remain gaming and hd movies and occasional gimp.

I am adding two more laptops .please suggest one from the four

the i3 2100 is 6k @ nehru place
what is your budget for the lappy?
if it is below 40k then go for a a6 3650+hd 6670 ddr3 (hybrid cfx cant use gddr5 )

similar HP model is better.acer laptops usually have mediocre screen & build quality plus not so great after sales support.
