I have a P-4 mac with 2.4GHz processor, 1 GB(333) DDR RAM, Nvidia Gforce FX5200 graphics card. But whenever I play a BR-Rip movie, after sometime it starts to hang.Is it normal for a machine with the above mentioned configuration?

Say you are using media player classic for watching those movies, then start the movie>pause it>open up task manager>give high or realtime priority to the media player.

Also disable your AV and other background application. Playing these movies required lots of processing power to decode the movie.

use VLC
Tools – Preferences - Input & Codecs
Skip the loop filter for H.264 decoding - BiDir (no need to make it all)
