bios checksum error

i get this error when i start my computer.cmos battery is not faulty.date and time are correct.using an intel 845 mobo.

check your motherboard manual as the jumpers for clearing the data seems to be short.. this happens in this case only..

Power Down Your Comp completly.
Locate The big sized battery ( ie CMOS battery) on the motherboard.
Remove the battery & after about a minute later put it back on.
This will put your mobos settings to default.
Your problem should be solved. If not try to replace the battery.
They will cost you Rs. 8-10.

i guess you didnt read the question fully ? he says battery is ok.. and date and time are also ok.. ? that means the jumper is set wrong !;)

hey i also get the same error :(
"CMOS checksum errors" and am unable to boot ... but after some tries it booted but dont know why it happened...

what sud i do to protect my pc or how can i know whats fault dere ...
either ram or battery...

It happens always once in a month or two ,and after some retried pc boots...

today i just clean my pc (from outside) and when i boot my pc it refuse with a beep :(

kindly help me to find out the error... its battery error or ram error....
how to check my ram? is dere in testing s.w for that?

^^Exactly the same problem that i faced 1 mnth ago..without no reason cmos cheksum error comes in....one day it refused to boot.
now its ok , mb got serviced.....he said its the problem with power controller ic

any s.w for testing ram?????
one thing i observe today , while re-seat-ing all my hardwares, I boot without graphic card and it booted ....

and dereafter i inserted graphics card and it get booted...

u know when i boot my pc while it was not placed properly coz of open cabinet , I press the button and it boot up :) so i thot the problem is over now and i mounted cpu at dere place....

I am very much happy that my pc is working fine agian :) but when i press after mounting my cpu properly it again wont boot ...

LOL

what i feel that time i cant tell u ....
again i tried it with open cabinet and it booted :D
don know why it happened

I have faced this issue with my mercury 845 mobo. Just re-sit your ram and gfx cards properly & clear the cmos setting by jumper or by removing cmos battery & put it back again. Yours problem should be solved
