I you want freeware only for capturing then nothing beats the power of VirtualDub

i use WinDVR

try virtual dub.very simple to use and min sys requirements.its also free.u can also comprez to mpeg using frameservers in it and a good mpeg encoder software.

I got a origional CD of NERO 7 from my friend. He got it bundled with his SONY DVD writter. IN that NERO i have TV and In Source Video capturing features with many options. Though i don't have a tv tuner and i haven't tested it but i'll still reccomend it.
