Both are very portable and standard editors across different systems.

vi/vim the omnipresent editor. I wonder if there's anywhere except windows where we can't find vi.
As for emacs, well I have heard that it can do so much that many people call it emacs OS

notepad ++ is really a gr8 editor.. i use it for c,python and all programming stuff that includes web etc..

does they show the line number... tab system.. open many file in one.... other html, php coding facilities.... I need such facilities
