when ur going for a combo drive go for liteon ... ull get it for lik 2500
combos arent that expensive anymore ;)

if and when u go for dvd writers go for pioneer dual layered writers for 6300 ... nuthin else ... but thats IF u wanna go for a dvd writer
( also just normal dvd writers will be passe' soon .. rather a DL writer )

o cr@p i forgot to mention .. its better to go for separate drives than a combo drive

combo drives failure rates are pretty bad ... so id suggest u go for separate drives @1500 & 1600 for writer / dvd rom respectively !!

Liteon Dual layer DVD writter is as low as 5500-5750 depending on dealer.
Real steal.
Save 2k bucks more and go for that only. heck i really feel the need of dvd writter now. 700MB dosent seem enough now a days.

combo drives arent good. and moreover they cost almost eqaul to buying seperately

go for separate drives rather than a combo.
but if you are going for a combo, prefer LiteOn / Sony.

Stay disciplined
There have been multiple opinions saying that seperate drives over a combo drive. Wanted to know is this 'knowledge from magazines' or friends or personal experiences?

I have a combo I've used over a yr, no issues yet. Have friends using Combos over a year too with 10 times more usage than me, but none have failed yet...

Trying to understand the reasoning behind your opinions.
Thanks !
