how do i get only the beats without the vocals in a song?

use beatmaster or beatcraft to select the range of bitrate for ur file and then select low frequencies for encoding of ur audio file

BTW the result is not at all good when u remove vocals from a song as they use channel canceling...

better to find the source music somewere if u can.. all songs are recorded on multiple tracks like vocals + beats + guitar etc but they are not easy to find. only a friend at the recording studio can help

You are talking about karaoke (songs without the vocals)! Or making a karaoke version of the song you want. There are a number of free karaoke software out there. Google for it.

try goldwave, use the reduce vocals feature. You might not get so good edit but, it works for certain tracks.
