YES.In gaming gpu is all matters then come cpu.i3 is still a good gaming cpu and can handle any games at good settings paired with mid range gpu.

should i get the fx6300?
i was googling
nd its just a few fps worse than i3 in single threaded operations
but few games do use multi threads
nd so will the forthcoming games
nd also its a grand cheaper
so i think it serves the purpose

should i get a second hand lcd monitor to cut the prices?
i could easily afford a HD7790 then

Yes but you will require bios update if you are going for ivy bridge based processor (i3 3220)
AFAIK, no H61 board will work natively with ivy bridge, they require bios update
NO,2nd hand LCDs will develop dead pixels and such.. avoid at all costs..
Compromise on cabinet, Kb/mouse, and HDD .. These you can easily upgrade later ..Dont compromise on CPU, GPU and monitor
