compression is not one of the main strengths of backup sw. Me too use Acronis (mayb my hated to the Norton AV caused me to shift from Norton Ghost :D)

Anyway... I backup on DVDs directly.. whenever possible.. Acronis.. i use to backup my primary partition after optimization :D

I use Acronis True Image Home 10 this is the best backup software as i think ,it has got a good compression ratio

Still Shining!
I use Acronis true Image for backup. Its compression rates are good.
but the restore is time taking. I have also checked out R-Drive Image. an I liked it for its high speed backups and recovery. With R-drive total XP installation(restore) takes 3-4 minutes while in Acronis it takes me around half an hour.

Hm...
Try using the bootable disk option (availble in ghost 9)
It will create an bootable disk using which U can boot the disk and backup an drive
Similarly drive restore can also be done using bootable Disk

Alternatively
You can also use NERO backitup
It has the same fearures as ghost The only problem is that the an ative drive can only be restores using a bootable nero backitup disk so U will have to make a bootable disk.moreover it takes more time to restore drive
(Ghost restore a only xp installtion drive in about 4 mins ;and nero takes 20 mins)

I don't backup ........ yet.

I'll wait for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard which will include a innovative new feature called Time Machine which will automatically back up for me and will also let me see the previous versions of the file.

Of course, you can also use .mac for backing up online, which is much safer. It's the only one (so far) that's compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows.
