Azureus = upload/download=

I m using Azerues client of BitTorrent.
I hv noticed that there is an upload speed and download speed.... what the heck is that? Does it measn that files from my comp. are also being uploaded?? If i wnt to disable any sharing of files from my comp, how can i do it.
and is it safe from hackers????

Only files that you open for sharing will get uploaded. You cannot disable sharing of files as there is a required upload/download ratio. Basically, the files that you are downloading will be made available for uploading. Even as you download, the parts of the file that have been downloaded will be made available for sharing...

AFAIK, it is safe. (I assume you have a firewall setup).

Its not about that i dont knw how to SHARE... i hv learnt it on the Digit Forum.
I was concerned about my download speed getting slow. The upload speed it greater than the download speed.
that is why..............

Typically, in azureus, you get download capacity set to twice upload capacity (you can set it in the options). However, depending upon availability of peers with the necessary parts, the actual download speed may be less than the upload speed...

sakumar, usually its such that the ul speed is set as 80% of the BW of yours and not as dl limit/2. azureus also by default sets that way only.

adi87, u seem to hav downloaded much without knowing the principle behind torrents! or p2p for that matter. u download from other ppl. similar way, other ppl download from you. as simple as that. u cant block it unless u dont want to dl for urself.

The sofware u r using is p2p. So if u r downloading something than at the same time the downloaded things will be shared and uploaded dont worry after all u r getting what u want at cost of someuploading speed only so dont worry and enjoy.
