my config:-

amd athlon64 x2 3800+
1gb ddr2 667mhz transcend ram
asus m2n pv-vm mainboard
onboard gfx
yamaha dx-xg soundcard

i use this soundcard instead of onboard audio

i just removed the soundcard once and used onboard audio

but next time when i fitted back the sound card i couldnt hear any sound
if i push in speaker cable completely in sound is cut-off, but if i push it in half sound
is heard with a lot of hiss

this wasnt happening before

and when i use bothe my speaker and headphones the sound comes in the main speakers, but not in the
in the headphones

and if i reduce the volume in my headphone completely, the speaker's volume is also cut-off

plz help out.

ive already disabled onboard audio in the bios long back,

take out the card, clean it and insert it in another slot.also uninstall all drivers before taking out the card.

Well while switching in between Onboard audio and a card or between 2 cards, you need to remove the drivers.
From what you have explained, its purely a driver conflict issue.

i uninstalled the drivers but no use,

same prob persists, and when i touch my speaker wire to a metal case it makes hissing noise like hell,

is it a problem with the soundcard or wire?

cos when i connect both my headphones and speakers and i reduce the volume on the headphone to zero(from the headphone) even the speaker sound is cut-off.
