ATI3850 at same price as of 8800GT

Just visited the itwares.com site . Here ATI 3850 512 mb is listed at almost the same price as of MSI , POV and Galaxy 8800GT (ie around 14000 Rs)
3850 is supposed to be much cheaper than 8800gt. Whats the catch ??????

Well ATI cards sell for higher prices in India.I was about to buy HD2900XT 3 months back but did not after Tirupati enterprises quoted the price as Rs 25,000.

^^^ hey buddy i'm selling off my XFX 8800GTS 320MB for 12k.so i'm the market again 4 a gfx card.
now i cant decide whether to setup crossfire using 2 HD3850 or buy a single 8800GT 512MB.
will my psu be enuf to pwr 2 HD3850???

^^Well your system will be able to handle two AMD ATI HD3850 in crossfire as the total wattage on the 12V rail is more than enough.
I think your trying to set two 256MB HD3850 in crossfire cause they should cost around Rs9k in India so u'll max a total of more than Rs18K when setting up crossfire.Buying an 8800GT will set you back by 4k less at Rs 14,900.
I think the crossfire setup will well surpass the 8800GT 512MB and I don't know of any problems in crossfire as there are in Nvidia SLI like SLI memory leak.Though games are more optimized for nvidia your setup will likely perform better than a single 8800GT.Also you get the benefit of using your Crossfire mobo to its potential.

BTW have you tested your CPU with orthos cause i think your using stock cooling.With games like Alan Wake the cpu temps might sore to higher levels.

ATI 3850 256 MB is officially qouted by ATi @ 179 $. the 512 MB costs 200 something... .. thats dead cheap for a good DX 10.1 solution...

though prices here wont reach the level, because of demand and of course things will get charged for the transport from USA to here

Yes, it should be arround 8000-9000. Less than $200 card it has been said all over the world. Sapphire has got very pretty models, one with heat pipe, 512MB one. I think HD 3850 is better choice as compared to 8800GT. The problem is of getting it on fair price here in India.

Duno, It is better you get through someone from USA. There are members who have mentioned that they have bought at newegg. I havn't so i don't know. ou can have a chat there at newegg with their customer support and know if they ship or not.

^^no way,8800gt beats the hell out of 3850 anyday.And besides don't forget 'nVidia->the way its meant to be played".Games are customized for nvidia cards.

bout 179$ ie around 7.2k
but 8800GT is around 300$ on newegg that is around 12k.
And even HD 3870 is for 249$, ie around 10k.

But u missed few things guys. For $300...8800 Gt is VFM whereas there are other aspects too that if there is by any chance something happen to ur hardware, nVidia is easily repairable here in India.

Remember this:
Gaming = nVidia.
Designing = ATi.
