Have people forgotten about the skill needed for Pokemon !
oh,and btw,Monster Hunter,which is also a Nintendo 3DS exclusive (_|_ to you capcom!)
the Monster Hunter series on the PSP was the most hardcore game i've played yet.
Oh, even though Mario Cart Racers was "kiddy" or whatever,it forced sony to make its own Kart racing rip-off game called ModNation Racers
so by that definition, Sony games are also not hardcore

I'm glad Capcom didn't heel to Sony's demands for trophies in MH and went to Nintendo instead. If there is one game where trophies don't belong it is MH.
Moving to Nintendo had other advantages too like faster localization and subscription free online multiplayer.
Mario should seriously retire and Nintendo should stop making him their poster boy. Had enough of that good for nothing character.
@dead5
Mate i'm also a huge fan of japanese developers and i'm not talking only about hideo kojima san.
If you wan't to try matured japanese games, then seriously consider the following:
1. ICO (Not our forum admin ) Ico - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
2.Shadow Of the Colossus
3.Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly (Get the wii version and it will work on your wii u)
4. Mgs hd collection
Except number 3, the others not in nintendo consoles whereas 1 and 2 are playstation exclusives.
Get your hands on the hd collection for better visuals.

Lets look at your statement from another perspective:
"Nintendo should retire their most successful franchise and stop making a character who has Mickey Mouse level of recognisability their poster boy"
If you are tired of NSMB games, don't worry, there won't be another for 4 - 5 years atleast. Nintendo has said that their policy with NSMB is one game per platform. There is no reason for them to stop making awesome games like 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi RPG, Mario Party etc.
What makes you think i haven't played mature japanese games?
Baten Kaitos, Xenoblade Chronicles, Virtue's Last Reward, Majora's Mask etc. are all mature.
Note: Adult != Mature
Other than the obvious(Miyamoto, Iwata, Anouma etc.), there are plenty of awesome Japanese devs on board the Nintendo train including(but not limited to) Kamiya, Kojima, Inaba, Inafune, Mikami, Ono, Harada and Kikuchi.

Well that's what i think. They should look for a new poster boy.
Anyway mate, why you keep dragging yourself to that side again. We already had similar discussions in a different thread.
I simply gave you a list of games that i think you should really try and they are all from jap developers.
Why give me a nintendo list ranging from older gamecube system? Besides kojima won't be developing any new MGS titles for nintendo. The 3ds just got a remake of snake eater ( my fav though).

Well, lookie here, the most famous nintendo franchise should be shut down?? Lolwut? This would be even bigger than Actibizzard shutting down COD, lol.
And then this is the year of Luigi so there is some change for you jk
Mature Jap games also exist on nintendo consoles - MadWorld on Wii, and Contra on DS for example. You basically chose to ignore almost everything dead5 said in a previous thread.

You think Nintendo should screw over their brand image and most profitable franchises? I can't help it if you think that.
And, uhh.. N64 != Gamecube != Wii != 3DS.
Kojima begged Sakurai to put Snake in SSB and designed a few stages, so it won't be unfair to say that he is on the Nintendo train.
Your statement "If you wan't to try matured japanese games" clearly implied that i haven't played any mature Japanese games. I was just proving that wrong.
I'll borrow from the realm of Movies to prove that Adult != Mature. The Hangover is pretty adult. Nobody thinks it is mature. Up is not adult at all, yet it is considered pretty mature.

Who said anything about shutting down. Try to comprehend properly kiddo. Not making it a poster boy doesn't mean completely scraping the project off.
Anyway, as if Nintendo's gonna listen to what i say.
On the contrary, i didn't ignore what dead5 said in the other thread. Its like his definition of mature and mine are different.
Must give the guy some credit for holding his nerve and posting sensibly with so much sentimental attacks. He at least supported what he likes and there's nothing wrong with that.

Just googled the name to find out. Honestly buddy i've no interest in the titles he creates. No offense but personal taste.
About your take on Adult=! Maturity, its not entirely true. Adult is not about sexual theme but is a degree of understanding complex scenarios. Maturity is often defined with complex storytelling having powerful characters in it which children fail to comprehend. Sexuality is only a part of maturity but does not define it wholly. The games you mention does not require a high level of understanding to comprehend and is quite predictable at times.
Play the games i mentioned if you can and you'll understand what i mean.

If you don't like Sakurai's work, it is your loss. If Harada(you may know him from that little franchise known as Tekken) says that the Smash Bros. is hardcore and convinced him to jump onto the Nintendo train, rest assured, the game is awesome.
Well, I can see where the confusion would come from because there is a large overlap between Adult and Mature. Mature games are largely adult. (BTW, I never said Adult is about sexual theme.) I think Adult means suitable for Mature audiences but the game may or may not be mature in it self(ref: my hangover example).
I can safely say that you have never played any of the four games I listed because Impending death, a slow doom of the world where everybody is ignorant of what is happening, paranoia, loss of a loved one, alliances and betrayal, rise of a new world, dealing with unknown god like powers etc. are certainly adult. If VLR, Baten Kaitos and Majoras Mask do not require a high level of understanding nothing does. To get the deeper story out of these you need a higher level of understanding. Majoras Mask and Xenoblade Chronicles may have a simple overt story, but there is a lot going in the background that make it up.

If SSBB can be judged by the first 20 minutes of its single player campaign and be called casual I can judge Half-Life(and its multiplayer mod Counter-Strike) by its first 20 minutes and call it casual right? :\

1. I take offense at being called a kid by you, son.
2. You said retire and did not mention poster child in the post we're talking about, son. Mario should retire is not the same as Mario should retire from posterchild duties, son.
3. Your definition of mature is way off base, son.
Just googled the name to find out. Honestly buddy i've no interest in the titles he creates. No offense but personal taste.

2. Mature!=Adult. There is no concept of not entirely true here because this applies everywhere. There may be a strong correlation between the two (in the sense that a lot of games released are both adult and mature in nature) but they are not the same. Adult can refer to strong violence with blood and gore, drugs, sexual themes, nudity, profanity, obscene language or any other content that you would not want to show to a 10-14 year old, let alone a kid, while mature refers to the quality of the content, as in how developed the storyline is, how in depth the characters are explored, how well the narrative is, etc. Just because ERSB calls adult-oriented games "mature" does not mean that the story is mature. They mean that the game is intended for an audience that can distinguish between fantasy and reality, i.e. an audience that is mature, and for whom the game won't have any negative bearings in real life. Maturity does include sexuality, but in the sense that the person thinks responsibly about sexual themes. For example pornography is adult but not mature. Or the Hangover. While the first one had some modicum of maturity, the second one is a very, very childish movie created without thinking even once about the quality of the content. If you can't distinguish between mature and adult, you don't deserve to play mature games.
