No, I don't think so. An email printout of sender will not be considered as a legal document as it does not contain a signature of sender which, needless to say, is required to make a document legal.

However, if you are talking about an email a proof of something, then it can be prove by tracing the source of email and then address of sender etc.

But, its not a legal document.

Ya! they can be treated as legal documents but I think before presenting them before court you should also have soft copy of them present on ur computer or online email acc. becoz they can be used by investigating agencies to know their source .............................and they can easily find if email was send by sender or not!

yup... they are... Emails are as good as signed doc...

I have produced email comunication with reliance info in the consurer court, and which is very much hounred by the Judicial members...

according to the Information Technologies Act 2000... any form of electronic comunication (Email/SMS) sent from a valide source... is a valid document...

reffer to the IT ACT 2000 (PDF) more more details...

P.S. Try to use known service as Gmail / Yahoo / Sify / ur ISP account / Rediff mail / Your Own Domain / etc... otherways some complication may arise if the comunication is done with unknown Emailing service...

As long as you can prove that the document is not tampered with its legal.

However , I would always advice to use better mediums for these types of documents. You dont want to be caught unprepared, when you need it the most, right !
