acquiring source codes

Can any1 tell me from where to obtain the source codes......
If I try to download them from the net then I would take 3 hrs.....
So I download any items less then 4MB.....
Are these source codes availabe in CDs....???? for free!!
Also which other softwares and programming languages are required to know for developing a beauty from a source code...... 8)

which software's source code do you want ? Usually source code will be available for download from its website itself, if the software is a FLOSS.

Head over to *packages.debian.org/<package-name> then select your release (testing/unstable/stable) and you'll get the package's .deb file along with its dependencies to download.
Scroll down to the bottom and you'll be offered the source code for it too: like in this screenshot.

the file .orig.gz is the original unmodified source code and the file .diff.gz is debian specific modification. Debian mirrors 16thousand packages in its stable tree so almost all the Free/OpenSource program's source code can be obtained from there:
