my pc is on LAN and I'm trying to access the default shares on an XP Pro box(c$,admin$,ipc$) from a Windows 2000 and xp box. I get a username/password dialog box, so I tried the administrator username and password, no go. I tried the other admin username and password, no go. I know accessing the default shares from 2k to 2k clients works flawlessly, but I havent had the opportunity to try this from XP to XP and since I cannot seem to figure out how to change any ACLs or permissions on the default shares(this is normal I believe) how am I supposed to gain access from my 2k or xp machine?

winxp shares work exactly like 2k ...
admin password shud work ..
it works for me ..

well .. i dont know if this will change anything or not ...
go to start->run-> gpedit.msc
computer configuration -> windows settings -> local policies -> security options
look for network access:sharing and security models for local accounts
if the value is 'guest only' then put it to 'classic' and try again
