A Motorola Defy+ around the corner?

Well, we have all loved the Defy for being a smart phone and rugged as well. But, it does have its shortcomings with an under-powered processor and more notably, no Gingerbread (not yet).

Here is some good news:

GSMArena said:
According to German website mobiFlip.de, O2 in Germany is planning on launching the Motorola DEFY+, an updated version of the current Defy.
The only changes we know of right now is a upgraded 1GHz processor from the 800MHz in the current DEFY and Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread instead of Froyo. Everything else seems identical, including the design.
To be honest, those were the only two drawbacks of the current DEFY and we're glad that the new model addressed those. This does raise questions whether the old model will get the Gingerbread update or will be limited to Froyo.
The release date is set sometime in the third week of September and the phone will be sold at an approximate price of € 300.

just a 200Mhz bump in clockspeed. GPU is still the same @ SGX530.

also they should have enabled HD Video recording. this one is most likely missing.

Can't the Defy be flashed with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and overclocked ?
And 300 euros is like INR19000. Rs. 4000 extra over previous version for a new OS and a slightly higher clocked CPU makes motorola look a lot like apple

i think defy already have 2.3.5 from DEVs. and the 1Ghz processor is of old make. launch price should be 15-16k. any higher & Galaxy S, Nexus S will steal the deal.

What I found from XDA is that:
  • The new Defy+ will have almost same processor clocked at 1GHz.
  • There will be some aesthetic changes, like silver screws, colored covers, white phone,etc....
  • The battery will be boosted to 1700 mAH
  • The RAM will be boosted to 1 GHz.
