1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Well mainly the purpose is gaming all the latest games as well as the future upcoming games too(like Hitman absolution,Sleeping dogs,GTA V, assassins creed series, Tomb Raider survivor) all the latest games and for video encoding and ripping too. These are the two main purpose.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Rs 25000-30,000 Max....

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: what does this mean so not answering :|

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 7 Ultimate

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: not needed will use my own that i already have

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No not needed will use my Samsung SyncMaster pretty old :p but still happy with it

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Mouse, Keyboard, Cabinet, DVD RW, Speakers, Monitor.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Last week of March or 1st week of April 2013

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: I live in Lucknow (UP East) well not a restriction if I get good deal online will buy online or else will prefer buying locally

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I need a good graphic card of about 10-11000 and a i5 3rd gen processor which can atleast get with me a long way :)
All in all i want a balanced configuration.

This is a Rig that i searched online and maded

Intel 3.1 GHz LGA 1155 Core i5 3450 Processor
Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7770 OC Edition 1 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card OR Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 Flex Edition 1 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card(any other graphic card in this range if anyone have suggestion please do give :))
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB 1600Mhz

Welcome to TDF. The config you have suggested is good, but as gaming is your main task, then I would suggest investing more in a GPU.

i3 3220 (7000)
Gigabyte B75M DH3 (4000)
Sapphire HD7870 (16000)
Corsair CX500v2 (3500)
G.Skill RipjawsX 1600 MHz 4 GB (1700)

total: 32200

> i3 3220 is perfectly good for gaming.
> HD7870 is much much better than hd7770

The extra 2k is worth every penny.

The Incinerator

Since you want encode/decode and rip better go with a Quadcore processor.

FX8350 - Rs 12000
Asus M5A97 - Rs 6500
Asus GTX 650Ti - Rs 10300
G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB - Rs 1700
CX 500V2 - Rs 3250

Rs 33,750

But if you are more on gaming with less of encoding get what Harshil suggested.

A quad core should be the minimum for gaming.
Its either Incinerator's config or Harshil's config with the i5 3450/3470 + 7850.

@OP: Whats your monitor resolution ?

I don't think so. I don't think OP can accommodate i5 3450 with 7850 in his budget.

Well, for video encoding, i3 3220 is not a good idea and in fact for the games releasing now, a Quad Core CPU is highly recommended as Myth has already mentioned. I think a A10-5800K, along with a HD 7850 or GTX 660 will be a good idea here. I am not considering the IGP of the Trinity here and just considering it as a Quad Core Processor. It has almost same performance in gaming as the i3 3220 and in Video Encoding, it outperforms the Intel Dual Core offering. Also games like Crysis 3 can take the advantage of all the 4 Cores and it outperforms i3 3220 by a good margin in this game. Price is just 1 to 1.5 K higher than the i3 3220. Also it can overclocked.

Hell, if possible you should wait for the end of March as AMD is going to release their new AMD Richland series APU at 18th of this March.

Proc: i5 3450 - 11k
Mobo: Gigabyte B75M D3H - 4k
Sapphire HD7850 - 13.5k
Corsair value 4GB - 1.3k / Gskill ripjaws 4GB - 1.7k
Corsair 430w - 2.5k

Total: 32.7

no quad core is definitely not necessary for gaming. Most games have 2 threads at most

The extra 2k is worth every penny.

its a +1 config, having a weak processor over a weak GPU is a much better scenario, because game performance ultimately depends upon your GPU and not your CPU.

specially after considering that the performance difference between the 7850 and 7870 is astounding. and even more pronounced in DX-11 titles, so its a no-brainer to go in for a 7870
