I'm having the following doubts. Plz clarify

1) is GDDR2, GDDR3 & GDDR5 completely independent of DDR2, DDR3 & DDR5 mobos? [provided mobo has PCIe x16]
(eg:- can i install a GDDR5 in a DDR2 mobo)

2) Is there different varieties of PCIex16 ?

3) Is installation of GDDR3 & GDDR5 dependent on 64bit/32 bit computers (sorry if this is a foolish question) ?

In short:-

1) Yes. (there's no DDR5 mobo, not even DDR4 ;)) So you can install any graphics card on your mobo provided you have a x16 slot.

2) Variety in the sense, different generations or standards with different transfer rates. But that doesn't necessarily have very significant effect on the performance of your graphics card.

3) No.

Graphics card itself is a small mobo with Graphical processing Unit(GPU) and RAM inbuilt. That ram is "GDDR".

Big RAMs are "DDR" only for which currently we are having the 3rd version.

2) Is there different varieties of PCIex16 ?

in addition to the SKuds reply these pci-e version difference can sometime create compatibility issue - so if you are going to install a latest gfx card on a old mobo make sure you have the latest bios version for that mobo.
