Hello,
Today is my first day at TDF,kindly help me out with my rig.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
Ans: Purpose is gaming at 1080p resolutions at ultra settings in games like-
1. Battlefield3
2. Farcry 3
3. Crysis Series (Including 3)
4. Upcoming games like GTA 5 etc
5. Ultra light video editing with AE( only montages etc), surfing the internetz, schoolwork in MS office suite.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:Basically 60k is my budget, but can extend to about 65k is really needed

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:Yes, but in future(So, no coolers)

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:Windows 8, can anyone tell if games have any compatibility issue with windows 8? If yes, i'll go for Win7.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB, or can go 500gb now and put a 128gb ssd later.(In both cases gona put SSD later)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:No, not now butif somebody could give suggestions for later, it'd be great.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor, OPD.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:ASAP

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:Never built, will build myself this time.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:I live in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Buying online, because locally we don't have any shops(I think), but if shops are present i will buy locally or get it shipped from other states.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: It is preferred if you suggest a config with these,
Sapphire 7950 OC with Boost- Heard a lot about it, guess it will give decent 60-fps on most games after OCeing
i5 3570k or AMD 8350
I am inclined towards AMD, just because it s cheaper, but intel gives more performance in gaming for 2-3k more, so intel is my primary preference

Anyways these are my preferences, I may also be wrong, I will gladly accept any config as long as it performs better.
I was thinking about this-
i5 3570k- heard its a beast overclocker
ASRock z77 extreme4- Suggested by a ton of guys online, but still confused
7950 OC w/ boost
tx650 PSU (non Modular)
G.skill sniper 8gb 1600mhz 4x2
Seagate Barracuda 1tb
HAF 912 w/ transparent side panel

Thank you in advance, Have a nice day/night!
:hyper: Really exited

AMD Configuration
AMD FX 8350 @ 12K
Asus 990FX Pro Rev 2.0 @ 10K
Kingston HyperX Blue 1600 MHz CL9 4GB X 2 @ 3.2K (Flipkart)
Toshiba 7200 RPM 1TB SATA HDD @ 4.3K
Seasonic SS750-JS 750W 80+ PSU @ 5.6K
Corsair Carbide 400R @ 4.8K
Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X OC with Boost @ 22K (Kolkata Price, can help you to get it from Kolkata)

Total = 61.9K

Intel Configuration
Core i5 3570K @ 14.5K
Gihabyte Z77X-UD3H @ 13.4K

The out of the box gaming performance is better with the Intel Ivy Birdge Processor whereas Multi-threaded performance like Video Editing/Encoding better with AMD 8 Core FX. Another thing, AMD solution comes with a very good stock cooler and 4.3 to 4.4 GHz stable overclocking is possible with it. AMD also provides better software support for overclocking. Intel Stock Cooler is of extreme bad quality and you need an after-market cooler for slightest overclocking.

You didn't mention the resolution of your existing Monitor, please do mention it. At 1080P, gaming experience is more dependent upon GPU and going with the AMD config you can get the Graphics card you want. If you can spend around 65K then actually you can accomodate a Sapphire HD 7970 around 28K within your budget with the AMD config.

I do have a monitor, i.e. a 720p (1366x768, 18.5 inch), I will be going for a good monitor after buying the PC(3-5 weeks), want it to be 1920x1080 probably, dont know too much bout them.

And yes, am open to anyone, amd or intel, whichever lets me get a 7970 :hyper:
I can get 7970 under 65k?
If yes i will increase my budget to 65 if im getting a 7970, i will then overclock it :bananana:
Cilus, can you please suggest a config( any config) for 65k which will give me a 7970? And for intel config 65k which GPU do you suggest?

P.S.- where are the prices from please mention, and i couldnt find the ram on flipkart a link would help greatly :D

WD 1 TB Black Desktop Internal Hard Drive (WD1002FAEX)

Get the AMD config and see if you can get a 7970 in that. I mean you have to go for a 66K or 67K budget then. :)

Could you provide me a link where WD Caviar Black is available at 4.5K? Also, there is no point of getting a WD Caviar Green HDD as they are slow and do have reliability issues. Get either WD Blue of Toshiba 1 TB HDD.

buddy, I mistakely wrote the price as 4500, the correct price is 5400 at flipkart, other people already mentioned the mistake. Get a wd black, its a good hard disk and wd's service is better.
