Motivation for the rig:
1) Gaming Obviously. Would like to play games for an year or so at high settings. Also work takes up a lot of my time. So its gonna be casual gaming. FIFA and FPS games. Also games like Assasin's Creed and GTA.
2) Will be using a couple of Virtual Machines when developing and using for academic purposes.
3) Also am working in CUDA programming, so i wanted a CUDA card at home to tinker after work. So no radeons.
4) Budget of 1lakh.
5) Might overclock. But not straight out of box.
6) Except GPU/RAM/HDD rest of the rig should be enough for atleast 5 years. Will switch cards after 2 3 years. RAM and HDD can be added along the way.
7) Will want a intel 6th gen processor only to study and work on INTEL SGX technology. so no amds.

Coming to the rig:
CPU Intel 6600k(here) Rs 18981
MoBo Asus PRO Gaming Z170 (here) Rs 15300
CPUFan Coolermaster hyper 212X (here) Rs 2894
RAM Gskill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB 2400MHz) (here) Rs 7050
SMPS Corsair VS Series VS550 (here) Rs 3587
Keyboard-Mouse Logitech G100s combo(here) Rs 1744
Monitor Benq RL2455HM 24" 1ms response time (here) Rs 14504
Cabinet Circle CC 830 (here) Rs 4345
HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB (here) Rs 3942
SSD ZOTAC 240 GB SSD
Grfx Card Zotac GTX 1060 AMP! edition (here) Rs 28259

Total Cost: 100606

Can you guys comment on this rig critically? Are the costs proper? Will it last for 5 years? I will consider overclocking when games start lagging.
Please do keep in mind the budget is fixed at 1lakh. i cant spent anything more. I am in hyderabad.

[EDIT] I ended up asking the same forum way back in 2009 and 2007 when i bought desktops during my college days. Made me all nostalgic. :hyper:

kamehameha!!
Don't get the VS550

Get Seasonic S12II 520W or Antec VP550P

Also, locally the costs should be lesser. For a GTX 1060, don't spend more than 25k.

ssb1551 How much did ur gaming rig cost??

CPU - 15.1k (primeabgb)
CM Hyper 212x - 2.8k (smcinternational.in)
MoBo - 5.1k (theitdepot)
RAM - 11k (I wanted 32 GB since I run Oracle and Informatica. One doesn't need 32 for gaming. 16GB will suffice. Both the 16 gig modules were bought locally from SP Road)
Sandisk 240 SSD Plus - 5.3k from primeabgb
HDD 2TB - 5.3k (bought locally from SP Road)
SMPS Corsair CX500M - 5k (bought locally from SP Road. Regret buying it now. Will buy EVGA Supernova S series or Corsair RMx series by the end of this year or start of the next)
CM K380 Cabinet - 3.8k (bought locally from SP Road)
APC 800BE-IN - 4.2k (bought locally from SP Road)
GTX 1060 6GB AMP - 24.5k (theitdepot)
The total comes upto 82.1k.
