ingame2 is correct.
and there is nothing like dual channel in older mobos. I ran well 256MB and 128MB on 845 mobo.

though I am not prety sure what will happen with 333MHz with 266MHz, I do not hink FSB will be lowered.

Yes, you can run both the RAM simultaneously. As somebody here said both RAM will run at the slower speed, i.e 266Mhz. You may however wanna test it first. Some RAM timings may or may not match. In the later case it may lead to crashes.

No need to worry as i already do this wit my old mobo... Its supports upto 333MHz and i had a 333MHz 256MB RAM on 1st slot and 400MHz 512MB RAM in second slot. The latter was run on 333MHz freq and no crashing is there.... The system is still running in friends home...:D

Wrong, it will run at 333Mhz,and putting 400mhz 1 stick will make sure it will always run at 333mhz

imgame2 is saying that if he uses both 266 and 400 Mhz sticks then the 400 one will run at 266Mhz

it is only if he removes the 256 one and install single 400 Mhz one the freq will be 333Mhz

mixing different frequencies is not recommended, single stick 512mb 333mhz will perform better than 768mb 266mhz
