Hi All,
To the music lovers out here, i need some advice on above product which i have come across some time back but not able to buy because of the price. To people who are not aware, "The Carvaan is a new Bluetooth speaker released by the famous Indian music labelSaregama. As you would expect from such as source, the Carvaan isn't just a simple speaker. ... The other thing that really stands out is the design of the speaker, which looks like a classic portable radio"

Of course, there are multiple portable devices nowadays which can store music but i am not aware anything else which comes pre-loaded and that too with such rare collections. So,i need honest advice/suggestions from those who have used it, if it's worth buying for the money mentioned or if there are alternates. I would like an honest review if possible. And to mods, if this is not right section for this thread, please move to appropriate section.

I don't really see how this makes it any different from any other bluetooth speaker.

Appropriate section? This is clearly spam. You have an older account so I will just give you a warning for now but refrain from posting spam in the future.

Edit: I will give you an opportunity to edit your post. Though, another mod might not be so generous.

How is this spam?. I posted this for suggestions on buying it or finding alternative based on people who have used it.

Read your post again slowly. Has a number of red flags. Now I have given you the benefit of the doubt and requested you to rephrase your post as to not make it look spammy.

Post read like a promotion for product, you should ask suggestions simply by mentioning it once. The most important point is "rare collections",it seems like the biggest pros of this speaker but there is zero info about this.Is this some kind of remastered classic songs collections with very high bitrate impossible to found on internet because if it is not then I doubt it can be considered as "rare"?

Dudes, I think you are jumping the gun here. Nothing spammy here at all. The quote was merely from the description of the device as can be found from many source.
It does have a rare collection - the old geetmaala radio series. Including the narration and all.

Anyways answering the original question:
Sister gifted the device to parents. Its pretty good.
Technically its a music player with built in speakers, usb, read only storage pre-loaded with old songs categorized by artist and year and album AND the geetmaala radio series from 1950's or something. Has FM, bluetooth, don't get touched at my place.. ALso large buttons to control. remote is also handy, but I think that costs extra.
My parents are not into music that much, so the device doesn't get used much, but it came recommended from other old people who love it. Don't buy it as a bluetooth speaker though. Its USP (unique points) are the preloaded old songs and radio series and ease of navigating through them with buttons and dials. My mummy did mention that they can't choose a specific song or album. One has to navigate by clicking next multiple times..

^^So is this "rare music collection" really rare or is it simply "more convenient to get all songs in one place". Also what is the quality of songs,I mean kbps,mp3,flac etc.

How much is the inbuilt memory and how many songs in total?

I did,so no way to extract info from read only storage(something like file info or even names which can then be used to download these songs from other services like gaana).

@whitestar_999 There is a display which shows the song playing, not sure if that works for you.. but more importantly the target audience of this device are older people, who don't /can't stream or download.
I should clarify: By read-only: I mean: the storage isn't exposed to be written/read.
Lastly I asked mummy how much she uses it. She is like: not much due to aalas (lazy), but she is listening to FM right now on it..

Just want to know few things here so that I don't make the similar mistake, could you list out the red flags you talking about?

Nothing much for old users like yourself, just that post should not read like promoting something.e.g.in this case if @op had just posted a link like *www.amazon.in/Saregama-Carvaan-Portable-Digital-Player/dp/B071D7M83T & then asked for suggestions then this misunderstanding might have been avoided.

The audio quality and build quality is really good.
The appearance is charming, for those into retro stuff, and as pointed out by @cute.bandar, it is easy to use for old people
The USP is the preloaded bank of classic hindi songs, which I do not think can be modified or changed, but will get back to you on that
Other than that, I would say it is definitely a good buy considering the audio quality, and just how it looks, but there are more rugged speakers around.

I gifted this to my dad this Christmas.
Although I do not like the audio quality of this too much its adequate for playing old songs which were not recorded on digital media and cannot be compared to music of this era.
The speakers on this radio looking kind of cheap build quality bluetooth media player are average when it comes to sound quality.
However, it has digital controls for volume (read infinite rolling knob) instead of a conventional potentiometer knob. This will eliminate any problems of faulty volume knob in future.

The price of this device is purely based on the music content which is preloaded. Some of the artist's songs loaded on this are very hard to find.

If you look at the build quality of this, you will find that there are other brands which sell better sounding BT speakers for cheaper price offering the same functionality without any preloaded songs.

The added advantage of charging with a micros USB cable and built in FM makes it an easy gift.

^Which version did you check? Did not know there were variants till I saw the above post. There is a premium variant with Harman Kardon speakers called Caravan Gold

First of all thanks everyone for your suggestions. Second, as mentioned previously there was no intention of spamming and the quoted comments where just for the purpose of explaining what it was. Anyway, i was not looking for a portable bluetooth speaker which there are already many. I was interested to this because of the earlier mentioned long list of rare old songs and they being of high quality. But because of the price i was having second thoughts. Is there anything similar (preloaded songs) which is less costlier?
