IRRITATING slow usb transfers on AMD FX machine. Why did I buy AMD?

kARTechnology

Sony " VA" "IO"
My config:
FX6300
Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
Sapphire r7 250x 1GB GDDR5
Corsair 4Gig Vengeance @ 1600MHz (X.M.P.)...ordered 8Gig today
cx430
corsair spec 02 case

Whatever the USB Device is
A true 720P HD logitech webcam(disconnects frequently and reconnects in a skype if not in the 3.0 port),
A Imported Nebulus Gaming mouse(stops working intermittently if not in 3.0 port),
pendrives, whatever, FLASHING android ROMs

the file copying in 8.1 or 10 frequently drops to 0 bytes/second and then raises. very slow.
it starts with a huge burst of speed sometimes, like 100 MBPS! and in 2-3 seconds goes all the way down
same case with 3.0 ports.
PLEASE What to do to solve the slow usb transfer issue? many people reported online but no one has the solution.

>I feel why I choose AMD over Intel, should have bought an i3.
>Noisy Fan
>The bios does not have intel like fast startup (you cannot even enter the bios, without removing the CMOS battey, such fast)
>and even SSD speeds are cut in half in AMD, the random read IOPS is half that of intel one, a 840 evo drive. even after installing AMD SATA drivers
>I have another amd dual core that is 6-7 years old gigabyte board that still does its job though it lags sometimes.
>I have Intel based rigs in offices with 840Evo, 4Gig corsair and gigabyte board, cx430 psu with no issues.
>A mere Skype call makes the cpu fan run at 80% speed. even hangouts.
>Why VIA? you don't know how to code 3.0 ports then why make them?
>Many video renders/converters do not support AMD graphics
Only thing I was happy is it ran crysis 2 at 1080p with a vaccum cleaner like noise and at high quality

oh please, no I do not want to RMA...should I try a linux distro and test the usb ports?

This has nothing to do with your processor / AMD. It's like blaming the brain because your kidneys are failing.
I am using a FX-8350 since over three years now and I haven't had a single problem with it.
Mostly because I clean the fan and heat-sink, reapply thermal paste on CPU and GPU and clean everything else inside my case every year. Have you tried doing that?
And if you wanted faster BIOS startup, you could have bought an Intel motherboard instead of Gigabyte.

Regarding the USB ports, try a live Linux distro and check the USB ports. If that doesn't work, check your USB ports and their connections.

gigabyte's intel proccy board do boot fast. should try linux distro, any other suggestions? driver issue?

Wow, seems you live in a pretty dust free environment.

Anyways, using a Live Linux Distro will pretty much tell you whether it's a driver issue or a hardware issue.

If it's a driver issue with Windows, the USBs will work fine in Linux.

If it's a hardware issue.
Then I guess something is wrong with your USB ports.

And you might wanna check a few settings in the BIOS as well.
Maybe reset it once if you are not having any important settings in the BIOS?

From this to me it feels like motherboard issue

read speeds are not affected.

tried ubuntu. got 5-6mbps write speed for class 10 sd card
all usb ports exhibit same behavior. tried swapping RAM.

okay.
tested a transcend 16gb drive with big ISO

guess that it is a problem with the memory card, but a UHS1 16GB sandisk?

but why the webcam frequently disconnect if in a 2.0 port
and gaming mouse hangs if in a 2.0 port.

I agree about fan issue,I have amd fx 8350 stock fan was at 80% speed when doing some little browsing then opted for Hyper 212 EVO which is very quiet and about usb transfer speed I never faced any problem.
Update usb driver it may solve the problem

waiting to get the right time as to get similarly priced liquid cooler as it will maximum keep the dust away. corsair h60?

usb3 ports provide more power(upto 900mA vs upto 500mA for usb 2.0) so any degradation in,say, connector material will impact usb 2.0 ports much more than 3.0 ports.e.g.a 20% decrease in power because of degradation in connector will result in usb 3 port with 720mA while leaving usb 2 port with only 400mA,assuming a simple linear relationship between degradation & power supplied).A good way to check it,if possible,is to connect motherboard's internal usb 2.0 header to a new cabinet front usb port.If speed is fine then it confirms degradation in ports else it means issue with mobo.

using ampere App,
I got 700ma from front USB3, 520ma from back USB2. but why back USB3 started @ 1800ma and tapered off in few mins to steady @ ~700ma

so I am not getting steady 900ma

900mA is "upto" so 700mA is fine.Back usb 3 port may be responding to some programmed transient current mechanism(maybe some mobo over current protection) because of something ampere app does.
