He has gone through a few laptops and these ones seem to fit his requirements:
HP Pavilion G6-2005AX
Asus K53SM-SX010D

The HP G6 seems to have a better GPU than the Asus K53SM at a lesser price. Which according to you guys will be better for gaming the HP G6 or the Asus K53SM?

nope. GT630 is better than HD7670 by around 10% or more. The HP is for budget gaming.

But this thread says otherwise.

Also, comparing the gaming benchmarks at notebookcheck.net the 7670M seems to be faster than the 630M

AMD Radeon HD 7670M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

More worried about the processor. Since it is clocked at a low frequency, will it bottleneck the gaming performance?

GT630 = GT540.
HD7670 = HD6650.

6650 trails GT540 so HD7670. though it can be partly cause most HD6650/7670 laptops use APU and so maybe cause of that you loose a few FPS.

shouldn't bottleneck. at least not these mid class GPUs. only in really CPU demanding games will the affect really be seen where the Asus laptop will offer better gameplay but at default resolution + mid detailed graphics, both will run game just fine.
