ok here goes
Athlon II X4 635@5k
Gigabyte 785GMT US2H@4.7k
Seagate 1 TB@3.3k
Corsair XMS3 1333MHz@5.2k

dont seagate (or any brand,as for that matter) 1 GB have high failure rate?

Corsair / Gskill, is not available at the place I live.
So I will settle with Kingston.

What do you say, an intel i3 will do against Athlon II X4 635. Can an i5 be bought under my budget?

Asked to suggest you better. Moreover since u game we need to take care of monitor graphic card combo.

Anyways get -
Athlon II x4 635 @ 5k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4.5k
2*2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 5k
WD 500GB blue @ 2k

spend the extra 1.5k on ZOTAC GTX460 768MB @ 12k

I dont want to judgementive, but you guys sure love AMD...a lot.
Same here. I am biased towards AMD, rather than Intel.

But Intel does have couple of suprises under their their sleeves.
I also wanted to ask what are overclocking capabilities of Intel i3, as compared with 635?

Retired Forum Mod
i3 ---> 4.5Ghz (with good cooler), ~3.6Ghz with stock.
X4 ---> 4.1Ghz (with good cooler), 3.5Ghz with stock.

i3 ---> the LGA1156 based one will be discontinued with no support after this year.
X4 ---> AM3 will continue support next gen proccy (as heard everywhere).

@toad, you sound like normal only, people think of buying intel first than AMD :D, I will do the same and buy intel rig. But when it comes to low cost and goodies involved with AMD intel gets left far behind, as I want think about future addons possible, I love what amd mobos + proccy combo has to offer than same priced intel combo.

Yea,intel comes out with different socket with every other new cpu.
I mean that just sucks.
What yeast infection will they get if they stick with one series of socket just like AMD.

Moreover,Intel has heavy influence on 1st time buyers & newbees to computer tech. hence they mess up thing, like i did.

Well I was planning to get an aftermarket HSF, and hence was deciding with overclocking capabilities in mind.

first time buyers mess up because of sellers :D, local dealers will say this is good for what is with them and bad to what is not with them. And intel is the best because it gets them more money LOL hehe

Try good cabby more room for HSF, NZXT gamma is nice choice.
