System hangs when coping contents from cd/dvd

When i copy some contents from any cd/dvd the system gets slow.I'm not able to any other operation.Pls help me in finding the problem


System config:
amd phenom X2
gigabyte MA78GMT-UD2H
2gb -DDR3
sony dvd writer(IDE)
500gb hdd

It's probably an virus infection. Scan your PC online(If you are on unlimited plan), Otherwise use any good and updated AV to scan your system.

Monitor processes in task manager and also the startup entries from msconfig.

Did it started recently or the problem was there from the very first time??

only before 2 days i got the new mb ,processor and ram.I installed xp ,have eset nod32 updated.

What PSU do you have, since you have upgraded other components and not upgraded the power supply, there may not be enough power to run the Dvd player.

If that was the problem, then try removing any extra HDD or VGA cards and try to copy from the disk again.

yes i do have unlimited plan i wil try a online scan.

yes i'm using the same psu(400w). but i only have 2 hdd,1case fan...will these consume more power

Try removing the old HDD and system fan and then copy from the DVD drive, if it works properly, then most likely PSU is the problem.
