Lately, it has been seen that certain key indian players who are close to retirement have been able to make gigantic scores even though they have failed to perform as a team. First it was the pathetic performance in the T20 & ICC events then the disgraceful loss to Australia's second rung team at home. But despite this, these "close to retirement" players still managed to make new cricket records and get a few hundreds in their kitty at the cost of the team. I feel the reason these players have been getting such gargantuan scores like the 175 against Australia is bcoz of the pitches. I feel these pitches have been specially designed by fanatic indians so that the Great Tendulkar and gang can go on and make world records b4 they retire. If u look at the last 2 test matches against Sri Lanka u wud find the pitches to be insipid and devoid of bounce. These centuries are really meaningless if India fails to win any of its matches. Even in the last match Sri Lankan batsmen managed to play better than the Indians and in fact doubled India's world record first innings total. Indians were left at the receiving despite their huge first innings lead and were lucky to draw the game. So these huge scores prove nothing other than the fact that Indian batsmen are lazy and have always relied on favourable pitches to make personal records but in the process lose as a team. This is nothing but pathetic and shameless cricket.

sure they do :p tbh its been a good batting display more than the poor pitch that has resulted in the score.the pitch would come under the hammer if it behaves the same way for 3days

India's and Srilanka's 1st innings totals were: 426 & 760. Isn't 760 almost double of 426?

World's finest team? There was no gilchrist, hayden , langer, mcgrawth, shane warne, etc... The Australian team that was playing in India was an inexperienced team and the funniest thing was that half of them couldn't even make it due to injuries. And the ones who were playing were actually from Australia's bench. So India didn't lose to a second wrung Australia but actually lost disgracefully to a 3rd wrung Australian team by a margin of 2 points (the series tally was 4-2). And Tendulkar's 175 is not that gr8. Even some of Australia's inexperienced players managed to get big scores in that game. I wud credit that 175 to the pitch. Tendulkar's 175 on that pitch cud be compared to a 70 or 80 on a normal pitch. The reason the other indian batsmen didn't get big scores is bcoz they r gud for nothin.

Good batting display, my a$$! You think the pitch was not to be held responsible for the huge scores? Then how do u account for Dhoni and Tendulkar's centuries even on the last day of the 1st test against Sri Lanka.

The point I made in my post is that the Indian batsmen who are on the verge of retiring have been making huge scores in recent times only to maintain their lead in record books at the cost of winning as a team. And even some jingoistic locals are hand in hand in their exploits, which can be clearly seen in the lackluster pitches designed so that batsmen like tendulkar, dravid, etc. can make unbeatable records b4 they retire. Thats the reason india has not been winning any major events recently even though individual players have their names consistently in the top 10 lists.

Hmmm... Old players are the reason we are not winning. Great. Other than Sachin, which "old" player played in the Australia series, may I know? If the 175 was made on a lackluster pitch and it was so easy to make it, then why couldn't the "young" players score the same? FYI, India has had great batting pitches for a long time as our bowling and fielding has been the weak link for a long time now. We can bat till number 8, but apart from part time spinners, we really don't have the kind of bowlers who can break partnerships just when it matters.

I too wanna add to what krow said...if the pitches were soo good for batting...y didnt player like rohit sharma and virat kohli made century...y did same old horses have to perform every time to prove that they r better..even gautam gambhir was not in form this year in ODI's..do u wish to throw him out
I agree to one point that the pitches in the current series r very boreing...they r not competitive at all....what we call batsman friendly wicket...but that will give chance to both teams to score huge runs..no advantage to alone indian team

BTW raina and gambhir have an average of 37 and 36 respectively

Those old horses didn't perform so that india wud win but bcoz they were more interested in increasing their leads in record books. That's why they won such few games. I don't understand why every1 has been so over enthusiastic in handing out tendulkar & co. applause when the opposite team has given the same if not better performance. Recently there has been an overdose of Tendulkar in the newspapers which is making me nauseous. Wat has he actually done, other than make millions?

I understand u now I too didnt like sachin (i really hated him dunno y )
but you gotta admitt he has some finest innings of cricket. and after seeing his 175 i really admire him now . Watever u tell Sachin is The great SACHIN

@jxcess3891, if you really feel that Sachin's 175 was only due to the pitch, then it's better for you to stop watching cricket and atleast we will not hear these useless comments.

That was one the best innings that he (and any other batsman) has played in ODIs.

yes. Sachin was all over the news and yes he deserved attention. Look at the amount of runs he made. 30,000 runs in international cricket. He is still playing because he knows that he can still be competitive in ODIs and Tests. He stopped playing T20Is because it's youngsters game and he gave way to others.

The 175 against Australia and the final day century in the first test against Sri Lanka proved that he is as good as any other player in current Indian line up. Period!!

Moreover, he is one of the few Gentlemen in current era of cricket and you have to respect him for that and also for what he did and for what he is doing.

If you think that he did nothing but earning millions then what did you do? Did you ever do anything that could (forget about the country) make your locality proud that you are part of the locality? and you are pointing finger at Sachin and other senior players in the team?

Forget about locality too. Did Mr. jxcess3891 even do anything which makes fellow forum members proud? No!
