Software to shutdown PC if temp is high

I have one unattended PC. This has already got UPS. If the temperature (of the CPU) goes above say, 40 degree celcius, the PC should be shutdown automatically or a batch file (which will run the shutdown command) should be executed. The operating system is Win 2008 storage server. Is there any software that will monitor the CPU temperature and shutdown / run a batch file when the temperature goes above the preset temperature ?

thanks in advance

Hmmm... Most of the motherboards will have this feature built-in. If the CPU temperature goes beyond a "threshold" then system will be shutdown automatically. You can check in your BIOS for this option and also in motherboard manufacturer's website for more details. By the way, most of the new CPUs (P4 or later, or AMDs with Cool'n'Quiet) can also throttle the clock speed and/or core-voltage, if temperature increases.

This will not solve the problem as this feature will stop the power immediately, instead of normal shutdown of the win os

You can use the free tool, SpeedFan. Check out this:
*www.almico.com/sfarticle.php?id=4 (check "How to define a new event" and "Execute" action section)

And, Everest Ultimate edition supports it. It is a commercial software:

SpeedFan can be used to shutdown when the FAN speed is below a threashold value. not the temperature.
I will try Everest ultimate edition and get back to you

I tried the Everest Ultimate Edition (trial). It shows the cpu temperature, but there is no option for shutting down the PC if temp is more than a value, say 50 degree celcius. :-(

Please help me

I just checked SpeedFan and it indeed allows you to take actions based on CPU core temperature values. Check the parts within red box, in the below image:

Check this link that I had given earlier:

I installed Everest Ulti edition and found the setting where the PC can be shutdown when temp goes above a preset value. It is working.

Thanks !
