Please help me decide between
1) Power Color ATI HD 4850 1 GB - Rs. 8100
2) Power Color ATI HD 4850 512 MB - Rs. 7200
3) SAPPHIRE HD 4770 512 GDDR5 - Rs. 7650

Suggest me the best value for money card or should I hold my shopping and wait for a DX 11 card.

My pick would be no.1 and if you can, do wait for DX11 card. Also, what is your monitor and what is your PSU?

Hi Desibond, I was also thinking of either a HD 4850 1GB or a GTS 250 1GB card to be bought later today. My Asus 780G Chipset Mobo (M3A78-EM) has an onboard HD 3200 graphics, but doesnt play Crysis on even Medium settings :-(

When you say its better to wait for a DX11 Card, how long would the wait be, and wouldnt they be overpriced initially???

ATI DX11 HD5xxx Launch is on September 8th. Looking at how ATI is pricing their cards, they won't be overpriced and they should fit in the right price point.

Go for 1 -- its a good card.

Well you can wait for the DX 11.00 Code path cards. Nothing is fixed for their release. Though Mid September is the buzz. After that you will obviously not be able to buy a DX 11 card, cause they will be expensive. And prices of current cards will not fall on the release date of DX 11 cards. So again you will wait another 15-20 days for the reduction in market prices.

Prices will drop but not immediately...

It will take a while for DX 11..to become full stream, DX 10 or DX 10.1 cards will continue to suffice...!

No one can yet comment on price and performance of the new cards from the ATI stable, nothing has been officially released, it is all speculation. Even the name might not be 5XXX...!!!! But yes they will be better performers then the 4XXX series..though what 'should be there'

1. 40nm fabrication.
2. Better power + heat to performance ratios.
3. Tesselation unit -- since the DX 11 API will expose tesselation to developers.

ATI will probably release..

1. One very high end model --- fastest + expensive.
2. One mid level model --- fast performance + excellent price.
3. Low end model --- average performance + low price.

Then they will release a X2 version, which will probably be two of (1) and (2) slapped on one unit --- internal Crossfire X.

Though I am no marketing guru..just guessing...!

We got to wait and watch...!

Well just saw this and this.

It is also rumoured that ATI will release the full LOAD on the same day. So low, mid, high, super high (internal Cross Fire X) -- will all hit us on the same day. Though it will take a few weeks, for them to trickle into our supply chain.

To answer your question:

If you can wait 30-45 days more, then wait..else go for what has all ready been suggested...! It all depends on how 'badly' you want to game...!
