Hi
I am looking for good touch response phone. Budget 10k max 12K.

I am probably going for WM phone just bcoz i want editable word, ppt and excel. plus PDF viewer.
A decent camera and acceptable music quality is also req. (doesn't req. high quality)
Lastly large no. third party apps. and good community support.

I found HTC - P3400i and ASUS - P320 . samsung Star(don't know abt OS).
But i also read in reviews that htc and asus phone hangs a lot and don' t hav good battery life. :x is it true?

Which one should i go for? Any other alternatives?

samsung star cant edit word excel files....u can use htc 3400 for all those but its too outdated now

U can try nokia 5530 ...I hope it can use quickoffice to do all the editing...check it out

Price of 5530 should be more like 13k than 14k , and i prefer symbian over windows anyday . You can do EVERYTHING AND MORE than a windows mobioe can do .

To the topic , low end winmo dont exactly hangs , but is rather painfully slow . Moreover you dont get much features for the price you pay .

Also be known that quickoffice in symbian is very good and is actually more compatible with office documents in regard to maintaining the formats/compatibily than microsofts own office client(i know it sounds funny but its true).
Also higher res screen means that documents will be diaplayed better.

Jack of all Trades.
dnt even think of of asus p320. its the most bad phone i hv used in my life.gets hang, extreemly poor battery life .
even i will suggest u of dropping idea of windows mobile.
touchscreen is of no use .
if u want business applications thn opt for e63 or e71.
best bets r there on ebay this week.
best of luck.

"touchscreen is of no use". Tell an iPhone user that! I wouldn't dismiss touchscreens that easily :)

There are a lot of good applications for Windows Mobile. That's something I really like. If you're the geeky type who loves to install applications, then WM is in my opinion a great platform. One of the nice apps is Finger Keyboard which replaces the tiny WM keyboard with a more iPhone-y keyboard. Great app which makes typing a lot easier.

Yes, the battery life and the speed of the OS depends on phone's hardware itself.

I want to know more about the Android community and applications!

Yes, the battery life and the speed of the OS depends on phone's hardware itself.

Thats the biggest problem with windows mobiie . It needs 30k hardware to run properly.

Like i've said , symbian can do almost everything a windows mobile does , there are tons of good apps for symbian . Also microsoft told yesterday that their full suite of office is coming to symbian soon.

The biggest advantage of winmo is its custom firmwares . There are lots and lots to play and tinker with .Great for people who like to experiment and HAVE A BACKUP MOBILE TO USE AS A PHONE .But at the end of the day its more like a toy than a serious workhorse.

if no 5530 then e63 is ur best bet.....qwerty keyboard is very helpful in typing and editing....

BTW 5530 is only 2k cheaper then 5800...thats odd...I thought it would be of 10k:-(

^^ i hope 5530 will be like 10k in next two month ie festive season. Really there's nothing special in this phone's hardware compared to star except the screen.

this is a great site to go...if your windows mobile is slow... and in fact the best reason to own a windows mobile phone.

am using p3400 for a year and a half now... just mod and it will work fine.
happily using it :)

give a look under the "gene" phone...thats p3400 and p3400i

i prefer WM over symbian any-day...simply cause of xda forums.... its so easy to mod , and possibilities are endless. ..may be that's just me

I agree with x3060.

This is the main reason to go for WM phone.

that's why i shortlisted HTC p3400i .

But i read the reviews of it and found that most of people says, battery life is very short, it hangs, slow processor .

What is ur opinion?

Also what abt HP ipaq? R they good?

its a touch screen phone.... so, you need to charge it every day.thats fairly normal these days . if you are planning to do heavy usage, then i would suggest you to buy nokia non-touch screen one.

the slow response of the phone is due to less ram 64mb and winMO 5, ...mod to 6.5 (w/o manilla 2d) i.e the default titanium and the phone immediately becomes fast

the V4 is absolutely superb ....the one with out manilla. its really fast.

i have no idea about Hp ipaq

try asking sumit here, he is the main mod guy for gene in xda

5320 is one of the fastest device i've seen . Dont even think any winmo can match it .

Anyway , e52 should be available very soon . Check it out . Eseries with ngage and 3.5mm jack . Gsmarena have nice review. 600mhz procy . Battery is ridiculasly great. And it comes with lifetime nokia email that will let you push any email in your phone.
