I Want to Buy a MP3 Player - Budget upto 3k. plz suggest any brand (wth price)though i prefer sont or transcend. help me to choose. video nt required (if avl then fine). but want to c which song is playing i.e it can dispalys song title

+ 1 for sansa . But considering your location it can be very hard to find.

I also like philips . Forgot the model no but its the square one with led and whole front face working as dpad. Nice sound quality and enjoyable to use. Also philips provide better earphone compared to most other. Availability shouldn't be any problem.

I'd avoid transcend. Looks / build / software sucks.

But try to get sansa if possible.

Check out Transcend T-Sonic 840 (or was it 830 ?) It has a decent screen size and 4GB memory and video support. Around 3.2K.

And there is little point in getting a pmp which lacks video support when your price range is upto 3K, at which you have good video players. In that case its better to go for a sub 3k basic music phone like Samsung Guru 1410 or Motorolla W230/W270 with a 2GB memory card.

^^ didn't heard samsung but have used w270 and the audio quality is just horrible compared to a pmp.

Cheapest phone with decent sound quality imo is nokia 3110. But still no match with a pmp.

^^ i feel the philips have bit better sound quality than transcend . Also the look and feel of philips ( specially the buttons and software ) is much much better .my friend sold his transcend (t.sonic 610 i think it was) for the philips !

Try to take a demo at philips arena showroom before you decide .

My friend has a philips and he seriously regrets his buy.

T-Sonic 610 I have myself and it has served me faithfully for 2.5 years without issues. For 1.7k its an awesome buy only if you ditch the default earphones and get atleast a Creative EP-50 (Rs. 225).

i have creative zen stone plus with ep630 and its sound rocks
though very slow menu if u use when song plays
and battery charge is problem at times

should cost you ~2500-2700 depending on your bargain.

i can say that with a little eq tweaks it can seriously rival ipod classic 5th gen except on volume loudness . The bundled earphone are good enough for most people(you know philips earphone rocks) . And trust me t.sonic 610 looks like a chinawala hipod next to it . the negative is random freezes(my friend now keeps a pin in his wallet now :-( ) and sometime slow menu.

I take Gautam's side here. Most of the entry level Philips players are not well built and not up to the mark when it comes to audio quality.
