1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: The primary purpose is to run Ansys, Solidworks, Catia, ProE, CreO to do Structural analysis, CFD analysis and 3D modelling. (Gaming is not a priority right now but I may add a mid range GPU *read GTX 960* later.)
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:50k - 70k (As low as possible.)
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1 TB
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes. Monitor should be 24 inches, IPS, 1080p and NOT GLOSSY.
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Don't need SSD, keyboard, mouse, speakers, optical drive.
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: ASAP
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes.
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai. Will buy locally or online.
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Ansys basically lives and breathes off as many threads as it can take.
This is a config I had in mind -
Processor – Intel Xeon E3 1246 v3 – 23k
Mobo – Gigabyte B85M D3H – 6k
RAM – Gskill Ripjaws 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 – 7k
CPU Cooler – Cooler Master Hyper 212X – 3.5k
HDD – WD Blue 1 TB – 4k
Case – Cooler Master N200 – 3.5k
PSU – Seasonic M12II-620 Evo – 7k
Monitor - Please suggest.
Total without monitor - 54k
