I have lost my WinXP Visual Styles. I mean when ever i apply any theme
(even the default WinXP) the Start Menu And the Common Task Folder donnot
change their look. They remained same as Windows Classic Style (Like
Windows classic style option). But other windows like taskbar, dialouge
boxes change them self according to the theme. Ihave check the Theme
service it is Started and configured as Automatic. The Visual Effect are
set at Adjust For Best Appearance.
Last nite i uninstalled Longhorn Tnasformation Pack 6.0. While doing that
my PC hangged. So i re-booted it (cold reboot) After that it whole screen
turned black and gave the error msgina.dll not found, Shell32.dll not found
and The User Interface was not found and only option left was Restart. Well
i replace all the file these file from as they were stored in some other
location also. So now atleast i can boot normally but i was unable to
restore these start menu and common task folder old look.

repair is the best way

try to repair your xp

not with your xp recovery disk but
when you boot your pc with bootable xp cd first you'll get massage that press r to repair but don't do this ,
you better go ahed with new installation and after that screen you will get that "xp setup find another verson of windows " after some thing like that massage you choose repair that will solve your problem and
you currently installed software are as it is with good look as you wanted..

well............seems u'll have to re-install windows!!!
i know its a loooong process!

btw, try checking out the toolbar properties! to do this....
right click on ur start button>select properties>click the 'start menu' tab on top. Here, select start menu as ur option, if it isn't already checked.
If this doesn't help, u'll HAVE to re-install windows...

Try installing the Transformation Pack again and then uninstall it again. If this does not solves your problem get yourself style xp.

Well not sure, u can try this, delete the file "IconCache", u can find this file in this folder on your compute --> Go to My computer --> C: (where windows is installed ) --> documents and settings -->(Your Administrator Account name folder )-->Local settings ( u wont see this folder please go to the Tools Menu and select "Show hidden folders" apply , now click on the folder Local Settings --> Application Data. This procedure will reset the cached settings of thems and icons of your desktop, don't worry just re-start windows, windows will automatically re-create this file for you.

Hey DO THIS

I know his problem (I think).

He has most probably disabled the themes service and so even the default WinXP theme looks like the classic theme.

GoTO -> Run -> services.msc -> themes ->Click on Properties and make it aotomatic and also Start the service.

Restart.

Your Problem Solved.

Keeping it disabled will save your system resources & increase performance.
It makes a huge difference on my P3 733 MHz 64MB RAM system
