hi,i have a 160 gb hard disk with partitions,c,d,e,f, and l.primary OS win xp sp3 is installed on c(named as win xp sp3).now i downloaded windows 7 beta and installed it on f(19gb).when i boot into windows 7,i found the original f in win xp to be named as "c" in windows 7 and the original windows xp drive(the original c drive) is not showing up in windows 7 thereby not letting me use some programs(i planned to migrate to exe files and let them start without installing them on win 7). is this thing normal? but when i installed vista in dual boot,i can access the win xp drive. please help

Open Disc Management. Right click on the partition that is not visible. select Assign drive letter to the driver. select a driver letter and select okay. That will make the partition visible in mycomputer.

Login in windows 7 :
click on windows button -> type compmgmt.msc -> press Enter.

Navigate to:
storage -> Disk management. management

There you will see a raw drive. Double click on it and you can make it usable. Drive letter will be different.

no. if you assign a driver letter, you will be able to access data in the driver and nothing else will happen. No configuration changes will happen to win7's setup.
