The introduction of Windows Vista will have an immediate impact on the investment that is required to build a PC. The often discussed memory upgrade that is required to achieve a decent Windows Vista experience, will increase the bill of materials by about 20%, market research firm iSuppli estimates in a report released today.

Very true. But technology is growing rapidly. Chips are becoming smaller, more powerful and more efficient. One of the best example is from Intel. Intel core 2 Duo, which is BIG answer to AMD. I understand it is expensive, but with time it will become cheaper. Similarly it is now the case with OS.

^^ But the cost is unacceptable buddy
If they would have fixed Vista Ultimate @ 10K it would have been a good bargain
