The Config-

AMD Athlon 64 - 3200+

Asus A8N SLI Delux - Motherboard

512 x 2 - 400 Mhz Hynix DDR RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 6200 TurboCache

Seagate Barracuda HDD 7200 RPM - 160 GBs.

Windows XP Professional - Service Pack 2 (1033)

With Autopatcher Version 5.1 (5.1.33) - Updates

The Problem-

If put the PC in to standby mode, then when i press the power button to exit the standby mode, i can hear and see the harddrive starting up, the cpu fan running but the monitor remains blank (standby mode). I have to switch off the PC to access it again. Tried Ctrl+alt+del, alt+f4, crtl+shift+esc but nothing works. Is there a problem with my hardware?? Or is it any software or OS problem?? Any solutions??

Thanks in advance.

Generally Power button is configured for shutdown.
Sleep button is configured for sleep mode.
Wake up button is to get rid from the sleep mode.

I think when you press the power button and other hotkey combinations to get rid from the sleep mode it does not work out because your computer is in sleep mode. So try to press the WAKE UP button instead and wait for 30 seconds and see if the desired result is there. I think this will solve your problem.

As it had happened with me in a different way. Although I had pressed the power button to shutdown my computer, it went into sleeping mode and I found out later on that only the wake up button could make it ok again. I should tell you that my motherboard is Intel original 845GV.

Hope you got your solution :)

I assume you are talking about the wake up button on a keyboard?? Or if its not on the keyboard, please tell me where its located.

I can only see POWER and RESET button in front of the chassis.

I was talking of the the POWER button on the Chassis (CPU Box). I have configured it to "Do nothing".

Please solve the Wakeup button mistery.
Thanks Anyways....
