I had Windows Media Player 11 integrated with my Windows Vista Ultimate installation. Recently when I start it, I recieve the error message stating

"The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 11.0.5600.6276 where 11.0.5705.5043 was expected. Windows Media Player is not properly installed and must be reinstalled."

Then it offers to connect to internet to download Windows Media Player. I downloaded it but it says that it was meant only for Windows XP with SP2. Please help.

Once I got the same error in my Windows XP :D
What I did, just changed the version no of this file using Resource Hacker :D
After that when I started WMP, it again showed the same ERROR but for a different file, then again I changed the version no of that file in resource hacker and VOILLA, WMP started working perfectly!

I changed the version of wmploc.dll and wmp.dll using ResHack but after that it did not even display the error message. The process starts briefly in Task manager and then quits immediately.
