Windows 8 System Freezes

Right off the assembly line
Hi
Have a HP laptop (G6-2005AX) with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit installed. My system gets freezes all of a sudden. When this happens I have no option but to use power button to kill it. If I keep the system as it is, then after 30 mins or so it reboots itself. When this happens neither mouse works nor any key combinations of keyboard.
One worry point is CPU temperature is >100 degrees centigrade !!!

How can I know what (hardware/software) is causing this problem?

Thanks for your time,
Regards,
Manmeet.

you have located the main issue yourself .. the overheated cpu is causing all this and if this laptop is still under warranty then RMA it first before trying anything.

Go to service center and tell them that your laptop is overheating and you need a solution asap. Wait till the issue get fixed.

^^ yes, there may be some glitch with temp monitoring app but where did Op mention he has used HWinfo ? :) Hwinfo is very reliable for overall system temp monitoring and same goes for the best alternative ie HWmonitor.

we've got a little detective here ;-) anyway, apart from the overheating this could be an issue with overheated motherboard component or ram with high cpu temparature like that the cpu will shut it down first.

OP should also check CPU usage (for possible excessive usage due to any infection) also he should physically feel various parts of laptop for abnormal heating(because of errenous readings from software)
1 more query : is the version of win 8 original or a *ahem* one??
