I have Athlon II 240 with 785G board onboard is Realtek 888 HD audio. I am using Analog Stereo or say 2.1 speaker. Problem is with onboard sound when watching DVD-Videos sound output is very quiet of course sound is good but too low to be enjoyable. Hoping this will be solve by add-on sound card, I added Xonar DG problem is it help me nothing much still sound is good but very quiet speaker is not the problem because when i play mp3 it is fine. And when playing mp3 by pluging USB pendrive in the speaker inbuilt usb port sound is good and loud. What could be the problem. It it that Window 7 audio stack is the problem or anything else, is the processor a bit poor to process all the sounds and video at a time, or Windows 7 sound stacks does not properly support Athlon II processors ? Or is it due to DRM but i dont think so .... as the audio can be heard atleast.

use KMplayer and use the normalizer filter under audio options - also you can boost the output sound using preference > Audio Processing > Volume option - here just increase the main volume control as per your needs.

I do connect the front audio but use the back ports the low audio which I mentioned is in the back port ... i guess the front port will be even worse..

Are you sure there is no problem with the speak or woofer to which is could be connected or with the cables?
Sometimes the jack has to be adjusted a bit into the ports. In my headphone there's no sound if I insert the jack completely into the port, but works if I put them out a little. Weird, but sometimes it happens.

^^ even I've experienced such issue - sometime I've to rotate the speaker audio jack slightly to get sound output from both channels ( 2.1 speaker ) though this is nothing of major concern to me.

@ OP - have you tried using KMplayer and the tweaks I've suggested on post no. 5 ?

Try reinserting audio jack slowly inside with loud music playing on PC.Sometimes their is a level upto which jack must inserted.Inserting further reduces sound.
Have these problems with my audio jack.
