Win 7 hangs

Sometimes while connecting to internet via dial up, my PC gets hanged up badly. It occurs rarely like once or twice a week.

I've updated my drivers, still the problem persists. What could be its solution except for reformatting ?

Also downloading of some files stops at 99%. Why is this happening ?

As there is some problem with my modem so i have to use dial up to connect to my broadband connection.

Any solutions to those problems ?

Mention modem - model and make

Try resetting your modem and try PPPoE (Always ON) mode. If dialer mode works, I see no reason for PPPoE to fail.

If you are particular about dialer mode, delete the current dialer, make a new one and try. Also disable your firewall and check.
