Hi all,
Let me first quote what the system in question has running.

AMD Phenom X2 550 BE
2 GB of Ram
Asus M4A78-Em/1394
80 GB IDE Drive
80 GB Sata Drive
500 GB Sata Drive
LG DVD-RW
ViewSonic VA1918wm
iBall Cabinet with whatever 400 Watts SMPS came with it D: .

Well I have a 5670 1 Gb Card on its way and Im very curious as to whether ti will run on the current SMPS. My guess is it wont. However if it wont could you suggest me a SMPS which wouldn't burn a hole in my pocket please :) .

Thanks in advance

the graphics card will run provided you remove both your 8o Gb HDDs. & also lower the Vcore (proccy voltage) to about 1.2V. still i feel under load your PSU won't handle. may result in random shutdowns & down the line a few BANGs ;-)

ok so sasta PSU: VIP Gold 400W. no Zebronics please. little better is VIP Gold 500W or FSP Saga II 400W (if you prefer silence & white is your favorite colour). also FSP is more efficient & a tad bit costly

Lol thanks . I'm not sure those will be available but I surely will check it out. Heres a list I could buy from possibly. Getting quality parts from Kerala is a pain so I think Ill buy online instead. Out of this listing which do you think would be a good choice

+1 for Corsair VX450, Tagan, Seasonic are also good.

Don't look at CM Extreme Power Series, though Real Power Series would be fine.

Thats the thing. Its never ever readily available. Its always a 1 week or more wait :( . I can get anything I want as long as I wait that long lol.

no problem. however you not mentioned any budget. so provided the bare minimum PSUs. however for your system you not need anything like Corsair VX450W, provided in future u wish do a full scale upgrade.

ok, my recommendation: CORSAIR CX400W. 5years warranty. your PC will die, but your PSU will still retain warranty. what u say? moreover pricing is like icing on cake

That sounds great :) . Ill see if I can put in a purchase or see if I can get one locally from my dealer. if my dealer has any other alternatives Ill post.

Question though. I have a basic cabinet, is the SMPS going to fit in it D: .

If you could measure the back panel dimensions, and map it to what the sites say, you should be good. Maximum, if the back gap fits, you might have incorrectly aligned screw holes. For that you can force-punch some holes. Should be fine. But just measure the back gap, and cross-reference it to the PSU you are interested in..!

OK so my dealer finally restocked his wares and he now has two high end SMPS well actually three but Im ruling out one already.

1. Coolermaster 460W think its a regular one or Silent Pro series?
2. Prime
3. Coolermaster Extreme Power Series ( At this moment I'm avoiding this one)

Any idea on how the other two are?

well for your config, 400W Real Power will be enough. however Silent Pro will cost a bit more. Prime? whats that? looks like Prime ABGB started manufacturing their own PSU nowadays :)

well as i always say, gift your enemy the 3rd option (CM Extreme Power BOMB) ;-)

Zebronics 450W sata will be enough. i'll suggest VIP 400W Gold @ 1.5k. will handle any future upgrade.

Er Silly question perhaps but I just had to ask. Does the Asus EAH5670 1GB Card require an external power source (Any Other power connector other than the PCI-E slot) ? Just confirming before I get my Power unit tomorrow.

^^
Absolutely no external power connector needed. It will pull what it needed off the PCI.Ex16 dock. Enjoy.

Much appreciated. I was worried I would botch something up. Also I think the other SMPS name was Prime Source . Must have forgot to jot down a word when I was listening to the dealer .
