I have an MSI 785G-E53 motherboard with 2GB kingston 1333 mhz ddr3 ram.
CPU is amd athlon II X3 435 @ 2.9 Ghz.

I'm planning on adding 4GB of ram(preferably 1600 mhz). Will be buying tommorow.
Any suggestions on which ram to buy? Heard corsair vengeance is pretty good.
Budget is 2-2.5k.

GSkill Ripjaws 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 - Rs.1650
Corsair Value 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 - Rs. 1500
Corsair Vengeance 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 - Rs. 1950

But i believe if you put a 1600MHz RAM on one slot with a 1333MHz on the other both of them will run at 1333MHz...I might be mistaken so let others put their view as well.

No I'll be taking out the previous 2GB module so thats not an issue :p
But thanks for the list. :)
I've never used Gskill ripjaw ram modules before. How are they?

HEy Jripper, How are you? I think we've met while you were making your purchase. Kingston value rams are very reliable nd they can run @ 1600 MHz overclocked speed without any issues. I was using my old Kingston ram @ 1600 MHz speed for a long time before selling it.
My suggestion is get the Ripjaw or XMS3 4 GB modules, 1600 MHz one. There is no point to go with high performance ram as the Phenom II/Athlon II memory architecture is not good enough to fetch the juice from high performance ram. In fat you can go with the normal Corsair value ram and run them @ 1600 MHz speed. Just increase the Ram multiplier to X4 from the BIOS.

Heya Cilus. :D Yeah we did meet while I bought that ram module. :p I won't really be overclocking the ram since I'm planning on buying a new mobo+proccy. :D So what should I opt for? Vengeance @1600 ones?
Btw also heard that xms3 is having some problems recently.

P.S:- Are you still running my ancient 965 board rig? :p

@Cilus I didn't know that..!! That's why i love ThinkDigit...!!! :) and does the latency part create a trouble with motherboard in regards to compatibility???

@Jripper You can do what Cilus suggested or get any of the Corsair or Gskill modules, both of them are good.

Yep. |m|

Btw have a question. On the packaging it showed 1600 mhz,on the label on the ram it said 1600 mhz, but bios shows max bandwidth as 1332(667). :|
Is it because of the motherboard? Or do those settings don't matter? o_O

Guys, remember one thing. Some of those benchmarks could be because they use cherry picked ICs. Besides, value (or any kits for that matter) need to have active cooling over it to avoid it to degrade.

Change it manually to 800Mhz or whatever option available.
