Please help me connect my desktop to my wireless router. I access the Internet through wifi on my laptop; now i want to do the same with the desktop; its quite a hassle getting a wired connection to the desktop.
I have heard of wifi dongles and a quick search on Amazon returned results for TRENDnet54Mbps Wireless G USB Adapter and Linksys WUSB54GC Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter.
My queries are -
1. Can i buy such a dongle, simply plug it and start using it?
2. Do I need to have a PCI Lan card on the desktop beforehand (I am not sure if the desktop has a LAN card)? Though, I don't need a LAN network between the laptop and desktop.
3. Do I need to do any settings to connect to the router - please note that I had previously connected the desktop to the modem directly and used the router concurrently for the laptop; so, my desktop is already configured for the modem (not the router)
4. Please suggest good wifi dongles.
