Why Cpu Fan Create Noise

HI Friends,
my friend bought a new p4 3.0 ghz. processor and Intel mobo with ati x200 chipset on board graphic. The problem is that when my friend plays game the cpu fan starts at high speed and making lots of noise. ***** I want to know that is it ok or there is something wrong please help me I'll be waiting for ur reply *****.

thats coz he got the Prescott....its too hot! ...
Well it reached upto 60 degs at load so to prevent it burn the fan speed increases....wear a pair of ear plugs while playing games! ;)

Increase of fan speed while playing high-end games is absolutely normal. Nothing to worry. But during idle time make sure that fan is generating no noise!

Mine Prescott processor also makes noise !

@ASH_DSG: Ask your friend to buy a new fan that decrease the noise and cool down the processor

just as everybody said, it may be needed to buy a better fan, but sometimes, a VERY loud, drilling sort of noise can be heard when cpu fan comes in contact with wires, is that what you heard?
