Which GPU 2 Choose ??

Hi fellas. i wanted to upgrade ma PC bt dad said no at this moment and even i thot ll wait for quads to settle down and ddr3 to chip in .Rit now ma config is
Presscot 3.06ghz
1gb ddr 333Mhz
ga-8I915ME board
ge force 4 fx 5200 128mb

Now ma baord has both agp and PCi slots ..I wnt to buy graf card for teh time being until i get new rig by next Jan 09...suggest me a graf card so tht ma pc wont be bottleneck .. I had plans of 8600gt bt i feel it ll be bottle neck..ionly play games at 1024*768 and 1088 *612 wit AA on .. suggest the best graf card???

err u mentioned u have pci.. but do u have pci-e slot ??
if u dont have that the best card i think you can get is 7900(not sure about it though)
btw 8600gt is pci-e .. so do tell if you have that on your motherboard
its should mostly be black in colour .

I think your mobo is asrork 915 g mobo which have both agp slot.
If our mobo do have a pcie slot & 8600gt is supported - [ check your mobo website for that ] go for that. you should get it aound Rs. 4500

Now it say its supports dual channel 400Mhz ddr can i put ddr 400 instead of 333Mhz ddr?? now suggest me a graf card which wont be bottlenecked ??? MOdel NO is GA-8I915ME F6 Bios

8600GT is quite the max ur proccy can handle.. take it and keep low for a year. if u can get a radeon hd 3850 for 7k , that'll be great.

i was gonna upgrade ma Ram to anohter 1 gb of 333 mhz bt just now i saw the site i gave it said it supports 400Mhz .. I am gettin it from US..currently i hav 1 gb of Ram(333) shud i get a 2gb Ddr 400Mhz or shud i add i more stick of 1 gb 333 DDR ...ll ther be a performance boost.. as i told ya ll be gettin the card from US ?? which one shud i go for 8600 gt(XFx big galaxy Sparkle) or a HD 3850 ..??/ can u give me the links for those two the cheapest ones VFm .. whre i can buy it ...i 2wont upgrade ma pc until jan 09

fro 8600GT avoid XFX. . i think its wise to get evga. .hd 3850 is leaps and bounds better than the 8600GT. . u can get hd 3850 from saphire . and 1 gb ddr333 ( identical to ur existing one ) will offer more performance boost.

HD 3850 is 2X to 3X better than 8600GT. nd HD 3850 is DX 10.1 nd PCIE 2.0 [ackward compatble with 1.0 16X]too but is 2x expensive too. Get the 512Mb DDR3 model over 256 DDR3 ones.
And DDR module will have hard times setting in dual channel is brands nd models are different.
Try to get another 2*1G DDR400 sticks[in dual channel]. Ull need minimum of that much power to keep an HD 3850 happy, though still ur proccy cud be a bottleneck.

wat mit be the price of Hd3850 in US any links from wher i shud but if from //.DOn t u think it llbe a bottleneck for ma Procc.. and i need to cahnge ma PSu also na then //? got a mercury 400W PSu..i run a dvd writer a cd writer somtimes and a GPU...along wit sata hDD

wats the price for evga 8600gt and sapphir hd 3850.. links pls .. pricegrabber or primeagb i hav a zion 1gb 333 now .. shdu i get 1gb more of sme brand i was plannin 2 shop online and get 1gb 333 more .. saw in ebay had a ncie deal on samsung 1gb 333 at a less rate.. wat do i do now ??

1gb more and a 3850 will do good . .compromise if u have to on the ram to get 3850 / 9600GT / 3870 .. in india , 9600GT is priced better and performs better than 3850. .the 8600 should be ur last option in case u fall short on money.

i'm saying that g-cards above 8600 will be bottlenecked by his proccy. a 3850 may be quite the best out of which he can gain good results. . 9600GT and 3870 cannot work at their full potential because of the old porccy( they'll work better than 3850 but not much improvement considering the higher price ) . . in such a situation , it is wise to consider buying a new g-card OR a g-card for lower price + new proccy . but for his budget , apperently going for new proccy is not feasible . so i'm suggesting a 3850 / 9600 . .and to the OP , plz make sure u have a psu capable of supplying atleast 26A on 12 volt rail if u go in for 3850/ 9600 . .

HD 3850 256 DDR3 is for 129$ . It seems dirt cheap. And they say some 129$ after rebate.
512 MB version wud be better, but with ur proccy, u cant utilize its potential. With the current config, a 256 or 512 will perform more or less the same, as there are lot of other bottleneck.
And i dun think its a gud idea to go for 9600GT based cards for 170$ or 180$ as u wont be getting ny performance increase with ur current system, even if 9600GT performs better.
And HD 3850 needs much less power than other cards with 65nm. HD 3850 being a 55nm card, needs only a gud 400W PSU to run.
A CM EP 500W wud keep everythin in ur PC happy. Enuf room for xtra HDDS, ODDS nd other peripherals and also ur power hungry Prescot.

^^ most of us game at resolutions of about 1280x1024 or 1440x900 or 1650x1050 . .at the first two resolutions , cpu ( as seen from first chart ) is a bottleneck .
